Sometimes the date and time for a session just doesn’t work out. Here are some reasons why rescheduling is the best option:

Weather

There are very few times sessions are rescheduled due to weather.

  1. Rain- Rain is tricky. In the spring we get showers in the morning and amazing sunsets at night. Thunderstorms in the summer and amazing sunsets at night…I keep my eye on hourly weather and make the call usually 12-24 hours before the session to make sure it won’t clear up in the evening. But, we can’t shoot in the rain. Enough said.
  2. Cloudy conditions- You were hoping for a golden hour session and there is no sun. Or it’s a dark, grey day and you weren’t wanting the look that a darker day produces. Read more about that here
  3. Temperature- Its either too cold or too hot. Sometimes we get cold fronts, sometimes we get heat advisories. Kids don’t do well in extreme weather conditions and we want the best conditions as possible. I rarely ever reschedule due to temperature, but it happens.

Family and Personal Reasons

  1. If you or anyone in your family is sick. I have small children and prefer to reschedule as to not spread anything on to my little girls. Please be honest and tell me if anyone is ill in your family. This would include fever, pink eye, flu, colds…anything contagious. I’ll cancel for the same reasons if I’m ill to return the favor as to not spread anything to your family. Don’t worry- we’ll get your session done! Photos when you or your child is under the weather usually end up more stressful than anything.

2. If your child falls and has huge cuts or scrapes to the face. It happens more often then you think! Send me a photo of the boo-boo and I’ll make the call!

3. Family emergencies. Life happens. Just give me as much notice as possible, and I’ll do the same.

Policies

I’m a mom and I have a family, so I understand when someone is sick, or the weather isn’t cooperating or there is a family emergency. Heck, I even relate to big gashes and bruises on the face…HELLO learning to walk phase! OYE!

Once you signed the contract and pay the non-refundable booking fee, you committed to shooting a session. That being said, rescheduling IS subject to my availability. I will work my hardest to get you rescheduled. Please know I want nothing more than to make it work for you and your family. Booking fee only applies to sessions within the same calendar year it was paid and is non-refundable.
